About

‘Off the Grid’ created an art trail within the public space of Merchant City, Glasgow with participating artists: Stephen Burke, Katrina Cobain, Supapong Laodheerasiri, Harry Maberly, Rebecca Thomson and Georgia Thornton Sparkes.

On Tuesday 14th August 2018, the ‘Off the Grid’ van was the starting point for chosen locations within the city, which were activated by artistic interventions. This meeting point was the place to collect a map to explore the artworks independently, to book a seat to take along the trail, or to have a tour led by Exhibi-Lets.

The map was the floor plan to this open-air exhibition, guiding the audience to multi-disciplinary works, whilst encouraging the exploration of their environment. Everyday spaces were highlighted by the presence of these artworks; championing the ordinary yet also challenging the mundanity of the everyday. Being placed within the urban landscape of the city, these interventions aimed to bring art to the people in an open, free, accessible way.

Following on from this outdoor exhibition, gathered ephemera, documentation and artworks were presented in a traditional gallery context situated in Glasgow.
